Caramel Syrup for Waffles

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 cup whipping cream
1/2 tsp baking soda
Place all ingredients in a large stock pot, because it will rise while simmering. Simmer 10-15 minutes on lowest heat. Then whisk vigorously 1 tsp vanilla. Serve warm or keep in fridge for later use.

**Be sure not to cook at a high temperature or it WILL turn into caramel rather than a syrup. This is rich, sweet but a real treat for a special breakfast.
